Consumers today demand a seamless shopping experience across every channel. Yet some retailers struggle to provide a true multichannel experience, one that blends the traditional physical presence with that of its online store.

Michael Hill Jewelers, however, is an exception. After winning our Pacesetter Award at the Demandware XChange Conference in Miami this past April, Michael Hill recently won the Best Multichannel Retailer award at the Australian Online Retail Industry Awards (ORIAS), one of the most prestigious awards an organization can receive in Australia.

The Multichannel Award is given to the retailer demonstrating best practice in integrating traditional retail with online retail in an innovative, effective way in order to grow the overall retail business. This truly describes Michael Hill’s activity.

Michael Hill launched 4 sites—in Australia, New Zealand, the US and Canada—on the Demandware platform in November 2013. The sites include a number of innovative experiences, including shoppable videos, a charm bracelet builder tool, beautiful rich content and user generated stories. The ORIAS judges recognized that this rich user experience not only drove online sales, but also had a significant impact on the sales in their traditional stores.
